    GS750 1977 original color

I'm sure the answer is here somewhere but i could not find it.
I want to respray my 1977 GS750 in his original color. I dont know what the color was back then because it has several layers of paint on the tank and tail.
Is there anyway with the help of the frame-number or any other tags that can help finding what the original color was back then when i rolled out of the factory???

There were a few different colors, but I got mine redone in its original color that it came in and it was the only layer of paint on the bike. Click on my avatar and look at my albums. The blue one is the Suzuki "Pearl Black Bluing" If you want that color i can send you the info on it. I have it stashed away somewhere and I can dig it up.

Thanks Chuck...I did inspect the tail and i could see that there was as a sort of blue-ish paint on it. So it had to be that mine is the same color blue as yours.
Please send me the info you have on the blue paint like yours.....

      Thanks in advance

HERE!!! I found my old thread...

the PPG paint code is 15653. I would think you can view samples on their website. Its the lighter blue, almost a teal color that came out on the 77 750s. You can get the decals from Reproduction Decals.

Don't forget Chuck he's in Holland and us Europeans got different colour schemes to you guys.

Here's the list to pick from - my German isn't too clever so hopefully Scanni will find this easier than me:

            79 GS1000S
            79 GS1000S (another one)
            80 GSX750
            80 GS550
            80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father

In an earlier post he states he found the same color on his bike in the back of the ducktail..so then HE requested the info.

He found blue - the 77 GS750 over here was called Straight Blue. I don't know if it's the same colour as yours with a different name but you did in general have more subdued colours than those on European bikes.

He looked at my album pics..looked and found what he says is the same color and requested the paint code..so i posted it. It may be the same color by the "US" name and another by the "Euro" name but thats what hes asking for, so I trust he knows what hes seeing. A TIRE is a TYRE in Europe..are they both round rubber things that go on a rim?? Yup.

I missed that bit that he had looked at your bike. Unless your camera is playing up we didn't get that colour. Our blue was the same as this one:

Or as near as you can tell looking at a photo. A lot different to your blue.

Maybe he's got a US import, though I thought that was mainly a British thing (to import bikes from the US).

OR..It could have been damaged at some pint and US bodywork was used to refurbish?? In any case, I was trying to remeber the code the lady gave me over the phone. I called Suzuki North America HQ in San Diego CA few years back and the lady gave me the code..something like O5T or O5N. Since i hadnt found the GSR at the time, I called and gave her the VIN and she looked up the paint code. My bike was actually built in October of 1976 for the 77 model year release. I imagine anyone could do the same and give them a call. I also have photocopied owners manuals for my 77 and my 78. They copied them and sent them to me..free of charge!!

05T is Pearl Black Blueing (05N is maroon) and according to the chart we got that colour on the 1978 GS1000 only.

Oddly enough we also had Florida blue and Canadian blue - and I'm betting you guys didn't.

Ok then my first recollection of O5T was pretty good for not seeing that number for maybe 3 or 4 years now!! I tried to get Colortie to match it and all the guy on the phone said was ..yup thats a valid code but we cant mix it. So i went to one of the die shops customers we had at the time that restored old 20s and 30s Deusenburghs and such and asked John ( their master painter ) if he could hook me up. Took him the parts and sure enough he matched them spot on and gave me that PPG code for future use in case of damage. Their website..John is amazing ..very comparable to our very own Larry.

Yes, I used to make dies that cut out gaskets and headliners and such for these cars..used to just love delivering tooling to them and checking out all the projects. The photo galeery is a scratch on what all in that building. The stuff in there is so expensive they donet have any signage anywhere outside to give any clues for would be thiefs!! And John has a very very extensive portfolio of bikes of all makes and models.

The stock '77 U.S. color that Chuck was trying to post is more Turquoise than blue with metal flake.
