Should I paint my chromed fender to match tank?

    My 79 GS1000L...

The Vetter will be going on soon, probably forever.
The bike is getting to be less of a "10 footer"... I scrubbed the %$#@# out of the wheels yesterday. But the chrome is still pretty "humble"... and I can't afford new stuff. Actually, I can't afford anything... but that's another story. The rear fender is a little more "OK".
    Other years/models had painted fenders....
Any one else done this ? Got pics?
    Any thoughts are welcome.
Edit: I swear, the bike does NOT look that good "in person" !

Chrome should only be painted if its beyond repair.
    Chrome is pretty
Chrome is the Greek word for colour
Colour is the latin word for Colour.

Anything is better than chrome, paint it.

i would leave it, yes, chrome doesn't get you home, but, it gives it a more classic look

Are you planning to paint the rear fender also?

I painted mine and I love the look. Have gotten a lot of compliments on it.

Flat black.. The less than desirable chrome on these old bikes looks terrible.
Even when it looks it's best it still looks like crap when compared to updated chrome parts.

                    Somewhere a restorer is screaming......
It is your bike so do what you want but the chrome is correct for the era the bike was made.

I personally think that Chrome is far nicer than paint on this type of bike.

LOL! you have chrome and want to paint it and I had a painted fender (rear) and wanted chrome.
So do it how ever you like. It's your bike and only your opinion of it matters.
BTW, I did put a chrome rear fender on mine and I love it.

You know, the way your bike is setup without the Windjammer on it, is the way I'd like my bike setup. Chrome fenders and all.
That's the look I'm going for. With a few slight modifications.
