Replacement mirrors - any suggestions?

The standard mirrors on my GS are worn and look out of place with flat bars and bikini fairing.

Bar end mirrors will be a pain for lanesplitting and parking at work. Any suggestions on bar or fairing mounted mirrors are most welcome.

I have Napoleon mirrors on my '79 GS1000E. They are similar to the stockers in height and how far out they reach. They're actually a little lower than stockers and even with the end of my bars. I have the stock bars so my mirrors appear to be high in photos. They offer a good view and hold their adjustment. They're all black and cost about $16/ea. Napoleon makes other styles too. After looking at your bike, I think they would go well with your bars and fairing. At least better than the stockers.

I have used the square black style for many years. They vibrate less and good good rear vision coverage. They used to be called the Kawasaki style mirrors. Do they cost that much these days?

I had to replace my mirrors awhile back, and like your Director of Finance I was worried about the cost but Dink puts a good case just as you have.

You can't put a price of safety especially the way some of the Victorian's drive

But the mirrors are a lot better than the standard ones. You can actually adjust them to get a good field of vision. The longer stalk ones are probably best with relatively flat bars.

Hi David. Those are the exact mirrors I have. I do recommend the longer stem. They sure want a lot for them. They're only $32 a pair at the local dealer. I imagine if they were bought here and shipped to you, the shipping cost would eat up most of what you save.

I am originally Victorian, followed by the required medical procedures to become in turn a New south Welshman, a Queenslander, then a Tasmanian, and finally had everything sewed back into place 5 years ago to become a Victorian again.......... O

Picked up some mirrors today in town which look just like the Napoleon long stems - Cykel 150-M27 sold as GSX replacements at $15.65 each including GST. The brand seems to be stocked by most bike dealers. They look great and love the coverage they give.

You're right about using the long stems Keith & Saaz. No way the short stems would be usable - although they would look rather good. Thanks for the pointers and advice.

Reckon the old dear will be good for another 20km/hr with the new mirrors.

I recommend you don't buy EMGO mirrors. Every hard bump takes them out of position.
