    The engine came painted in black on the 1983 GS 1100 SD.
    Here's the one I restored

        Believe it or not, I bought a new seat strap but kept it off the bike to keep the seat line intact
        To encourage you in your restoration, here's what my Kat looked like when I bought it

            No, the black is not stock, the 1981 and 1982 1100 Katana was only released in the all silver version worldwide.

                            The Yosh on your current bike sure does tuck up nicely for clearance.
