Seat foams from different years?

Just curious, I have a 1982 gs750t, seems hard to find much for these bikes other than stock replacements.

Want to do away with the stepped seat. Anyone know if foams and covers from other years will fit? I know the seat pans are different but has anyone made it work?

I had my seat totally redone by a local shop, new foam and cover. Ran me about $132 here. Or you can send your seat to Corbin or Mustang with instructions on what you want and they will build it. No idea what the cost would be, you'll have to inquire with them. Here is a pic of it.

Not hijack a thread, but anyone know a good way to cut/attach foam to make a custom seat? I'm wanting to cut out some of the foam from the front of me E seat, attach it to the back, and cover it all in leather. Basically an E seat made into a King & Queen.

Actually, maybe just take an old E pan and do it all new, but still need some tips on forming/shaving the foam.

Thanks, guy did a great job on it. If you were to see his shop you would think he was some kind of hole in the wall upholsterly shop. For the foam he took the high density type foam (mine was firm, you can use the type that suits you best) and layered (glued each layer) it to get the thickness and the basic shape. He then shaved it till he got the original shape of the old seat. He made a cardboard template from the old seat.

Use an electric knife for shaving foam, nothing works better.

You mean like the kind you carve the turkey with? Serrated blades, looks kind of like an electric hand mixer...?
