    What finish on engine?

Hi, my 750d (1977 -78)restoration is slowly getting there, but i a struggling to find out what the original finish would have been on the engine.

Its currently black, but i reckon it was silver originally....So was it plain aluminium or was it painted silver. Anyone know?

Likewise the fork legs (which are currently polished aluminium) were thry painted silver or plain aluminium?

Sorry for the daft questions, but the internet has lots of pictures, but i can't find the definitive answer.

    Cheers Rich

Mine are original and they don't look like there's any paint on them (forks or engine). I read here that there's a clear coat on them. My clear coat is splotchy and crappy looking, others here have stripped the clear coat off and polished the parts up really nice, it can be done. You can search on "VHT silver" and read the threads for several engine paint choices.

The engine was painted silver, other than the lower crankcase half which was raw aluminium.

The lower fork legs were brush-polished and clear coated.
