    Plastic primer/adhesion promoter

Okay went to prime my plastic parts last nite and discovered the stuff I got was junk. Good thing I just tested it on one small piece. Off to find some thing better.

Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

What was the stuff you used? I've used both Bulldog Adhesion Propmoter as well as Duplicolor's and have good luck with both. Duplicolor tends to atomize, better, though.

Well, let's just say my learning curve on painting my bike is a steep one so far. I just picked up some new stuff from NAPA, $30 a can, better be worth it. Martin Senour paints makes it. NAPA 6246 Plastic adhesion promoter-clear. I'm right about this, no primer over this if you use it right? Gotta sand off the junk so I can use this.

A bit of advice I was given was wipe plastic with alcohol after sanding. It gets rid of the chemicals that sanding plastic brings to the surface.

Well the new stuff worked pretty damn good. I'm happy happy happy now lol. All the parts get a thorough wash job when sanding is done. Though if I believe there is still something on the part then it gets wiped down with some acetone then washed again.

Still need to use primer with adhesion promoter. Clean plastic part, apply adhesion promotor, prime, fill, sand, reprime as needed, sand as needed, clean, topcoat, clearcoat if desired.
