'82 GS1100G ~ Where to get seat reupholstered?

Hi,

I tried searching but didn't find much.

Has anyone had their seat sent to get reupholstered? Right now I have the king/queen rise seat that was part of a Vetter package. It looks fine from the side, but from behind it is not so pleasant. I've tried just finding an original seat but that seems hopeless and might need redone anyways!

I would like the original look, so if any has had success with a good reupholster shop, please let me know. It'll need new foam cut, along with the covering. Also, if you could tell me how much it cost you.

And do you have any pics? I've been thinking of buying one of them eBay seat covers, but they are around $80 a pop on their own.

Check out your local shops and I'm sure you'll get a good job from one of them. I did on my 550T seat and really like the way it looks (the picture I have didn't turn out great).

I had mine done at an auto-upholstery place. 2 weeks and they did a very good job.($125) However, I think many of these won't want to or are unable to easily replicate the ropy-impressed pattern for a one-off job. If you want to retain it, you may have to order your cover from a source online....
I don't miss the pattern, and I think the hot-stamping to melt the vinyl is the first place the cover will crack and split later on.

My roommate got his done at Superior Seating in Elkhart, Indiana 574-389-9011. Not sure where you are located but they did an amazing job in his seat for $100 - two weeks. super comfortable and very nice leather. Getting mine done there in the next couple weeks.

most shops will not do the impressions, as they need a machine to either hot press or cold press the pattern, but you can do stitching instead, or 2 different materials...

The guy said it would be about $225 and would be at least three weeks, as there were a couple other bikes in ahead of me.

I said "thank you very much", went home and ordered a new Saddleskin cover from Saddlemen (through Amazon.com). It was about $60.

I spoke with him about it on Saturday when I picked mine up...he was sad that you went somewhere else but understood.

I just had the local guy in Tillamook redo the Guiliari seat I had with the 1000E I got from Phaseman. It came out great. He managed to keep the panels that were stenciled with the Guiliari name and the Suzuki name, as well as the heat seamed top panel. It cost me $85, but I think it was at least as difficult as doing the whole thing.
