Both bikes are listed at over twice what those models in that condition generally bring.

But, as a seller, you can't negotiate up, so you might as well start high.

MMmm.. the 1000 is cherry, looks like ever square inch of it is in showroom condition. It's worth 2000 easy if it runs like it looks, and I wouldn't feel terrible paying a little more.

At those prices both bikes should come with a tube of Astorglide...

Wish we could get that much for these bikes. I think they are worth every penny. The 1000 deserves to sell for $4k. Hey this is California, so prices are higher.

Deserves to sell at $4k? At 25k miles and 30+ years old, yeah right. I understand we're on a Suzuki GS message board but the bikes are pretty worthless.

Worthless is a bit harsh. As has been said, if someone is willing to pay it, then it's worth it. That being said, you can buy a bike from within the last decade for $4000-4500, so unless you really want a GS badly and don't want to do the work (probably still need maintenance work done), then you wouldn't buy these bikes.

That is certainly the rub, and a big wake up call for me: the maintenance. I had no idea what I was getting into. I have a 1983 Yamaha Riva scooter which still runs OK with nothing but an oil change and tires for the five years I've owned it.

Bikes in So. Calif. are expensive. Junk sells for $1000+. Some of you guys living back east would have a heart attack if you saw the prices out here.

The 1000G has the paint off the side of the tail from a rack, and a missing grab rail on the seat. The paint thing looks bad to me.
