    Restore chrome mufflers

One of my biggest issues appearance wise is my left muffler. It looks as if the previous owner took some sand paper to it, probably to remove the splattered stains (break fluid maybe?). Well it looks dull and no matter how much rubbing compound, swirl remover, or chrome polisher i use, it still looks like polished aluminum, not a mirror finish chrome. Does anyone have any suggestions before i purchase a better looking exhaust off ebay?!

It would likely be acid from the battery that splashed onto the exhaust from the vent tube.

I know of no way to repair that sort of staining short of a replacement.

      or like this

both are polished aluminum, but the top is not a high polish more like a satin....

and if the chrome is damaged, you will never get a mirror finish back

      .
