NO...rubber cement will not harden and hold. Do this.
Lay a piece of GREEN automotive grade masking tape across the tank where you want the bottom of the sticker to be. Lay the sticker on the edge of the tape and box in the other 4 sides, now you have a frame for applying the CONTACT cement. Apply a very thin coat all inside the frame and on the back of the sticker and let dry 5 minutes or so. By thin I mean "just enough to have a film.
Lay the sticker on carefully because youve only got 1 chance, starting on whatever edge you wish. Line it up and use a finger to smooth it down as you lay it in place.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Side note...Any cement that squishes out under the tape after you rub the sticker down, just use a soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol to clean it up. Wipe and lift as you go and keep the rags clean surface licking up the over burden.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

YEah I think there are links on Cliff's site too.
The decals I have seen look like OEM and they even do stuff like the PSI information for the tires etc.
Damn now I have to go looking.

Bbecause its made to NOT have the adhesive marr or stick too hard to a automotve finish. Blue painters tape is for house painting. you definitely do not want regular masking tape or duct tape type stuff.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
