GS850 tank swap
Hey guys, does anyone know if a tank from a 850GL will fit on the frame of a 850G?Tags: None

No -- the GL tank is a good bit shorter front to back.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

Dang, we'll does anyone know of any other tanks that look similar to the GL's tank? I like the look but I can't find any tanks that fit

If you like the look that much, sell the G, get an L.
But be aware that you will be giving up a LOT of useful range when you are riding.

My friend mounted a G tank on his GL. He had to use the G forks for clearance and you need to make sure it mounts the same. I am building a GL and I have a g and gl tank and I have to use the gl tank because the GL frame I have uses a double mount on the back side of the tank and my G tank has a single mount below it in the middle. If your G tank mounts with the double mounts on the back I will trade you if you want.
