    DIY Seat Cover

While I'm waiting for a new petcock, I decided to do this.
Don't have a sewing machine, but I did have some marine grade vinyl scraps, and some upholstery thread. About 8 hours of hand stitching(should have been 3 at the most, but the tv was on. lol).

First, here is the old one that came with the bike:

    And here is mine:

I might add some diamond pattern vinyl to the top, not sure yet.
But it looks and feels 100% better, was free, and the only animals harmed were my thumbs from needle points.

That had to take a lot of patience.

I needed to recover the seat on the Nighthawk. I started with a Saddleman's, got about 80% of it installed, and wound up finding an upholsterer, in utter defeat. But -- yeah, the bike is much more comfortable.
and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

Patience, not really... More a lack of anything better to do, and no money to do anything if there were. lol

BTW, that Nighthawk is beautiful. Always wanted one, but too expensive down here when they do come up for sale.

hey, good one. That'll feel better and protect the original foam. Did you you put a sheet of plastic underneath? because a hard rain will eventually get through stitches and wet the foam...=bad news if your seat pan is steel.. I see you have big pieces on top and so maybe ok...not to worry if you didn't- it's a long term thing. Garbage bag would be enough.
I'm going to try again on mine. ..I can get more vinyl at the Fabric store...it's a bit of an estrogen lake in there but very friendly and helpful.

Didn't think of that, Seat pan is plastic though so it should be okay.
Haha, so true about the fabric stores, whenever I have to go there everyone just stares at me like 'dafuq he doin here' lmao.
