    EMGO Cooley bars???

    Are these the aftermarket Cooley bars??? Seem to look very "close " to me.


    MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

    I like the shape, don't know about Cooley bars. Beware though, those are the cheap ones without serations for the clamps on the top triple to grip. They usually move up and down when you hit a bump or stop hard, even if you overtorque the heck out of the bolts.

      Can throw a few spot welds on and make some rough areas.

        Yeah I was thinking about hitting it with a dremel to make little grooves, but I don't think there's much strength there anyway, I'd hate to make it any weaker. I dropped the bike and the bars bent, so they are gone now anyway.

          Thought the same thing..some spot welds and grind them ALMOST flat ..the serrate with a dremel wheel. Or some emery paper between the clamps and bars.

                  Nah..just a few real quick zaps ..wont create much heat. Like maybe 4 around at equal intervals. Now if someone was to weld a solid bead they would get softened from that. But then again bars arent very hardened as it is. Seen lots of slightly bent bars smacked back into from with a few well place whacks from a 2X4.

                    I wouldn't go welding on them. Rough up the chrome under the bar clamps and you should be fine.

                      Havent decided to buy yet Ed. Look so close but yet not sure if they are correct for a Cooley. Gregs are very badly bent and kinked.

                        Could you cut part of a inter tube and put between then tighten?

                          I have used aluminum foil to tighten them up, it worked a little but was not perfect.

                            I have after market bars on one of mine. I filed a little off the bottom of the top camp so they didnt touch when bolting down and after 4 years i havent touched them.
