Will an "L" fender fit on my 1980 gs550E?

I'm wondering if an L-style rear fender will cleanly bolt on to my 1980 GS550E.

The plan is to shorten it and use a lucas style light, just like this CB (is it sacrilegious to post a CB here??)

Dont see why it wouldnt. All the mounting holes should be in the same places. Its the seat to fender fit that isnt going to be "clean" in the rear.

Not quite a bolt-on deal but a rear fender from a 450T would be your best bet.

If you are going to modify it anyway, does it really make any difference?

            Make it fit.

Life is too short to ride an L.

It might be easier to help given the measurements between the holes (and width too) that you are trying to fit. Someone with a 1980 550L might confirm that an "L-style fender" would fit or others give you more options as to fenders....
