Shaved tank emblems.
I'm having a hard time finding any pictures. I'm not crazy about the screw on emblems(1980 850) but I can't decide whether or not the tank is too big to shave them. I don't want it to look like a school bus. I've decided on a gloss black and silver two tone paint scheme, just not if I want to glass over the emblem area. If anyone has any pictures I'd love to see them.Tags: None

I think the early 850 has enough lines and ridges to it, has an interesting shape, but has huge flat sides. The emblems help break up the huge sides. But it all depends on what you do with the paint.
I have seen filled ones leak, someone puntured the tank with too long emblem screws, (very common) after it was filled with bondo or whatever the gasoline ate the filler from the inside.

Well I think I might prefer the emblems on it. The tank is full of water right now(electrolysis cleaning) so I know it isn't leaking from the emblems. Thanks for the picture, it helped me make up my mind.

My 1983 GS850 GL has tank emblems and side covers of a similar color , but I am going to put on some saddlebags and was thinking about painting the doors to match the blue...
