    Protection for matte paint?

I'm finishing up a winter paint job on my 81 GS400L, painted the gas tank, front and rear fender, headlight, and chain guard all flat black. However, I would like to put a coat of automotive wax over everything to keep it all nice and protected from the sun, weather, bird bombs, etc.

    But...

Did my research on standard automotive waxes, and discovered that automotive wax on a matte finish will essentially destroy a matte paint job and leave it splotchy, glossy, or a combination of both.

Does anyone have a suggestion for some sort of protectant I can apply that will keep it weatherproof over the riding season?

I've seen Dr. Beasley's Matte Wax, as well as Rat Wax, both manufactured for matte black finishes, but I was hoping to find something I can easily buy in a store (I'm in Canada btw).

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks!

I've heard that stuff runs a tad on the pricey side.

I think they make a special clear coat for matte finishes... I'm certainly no expert but the popularity of matte finishes, there should be one. Do you have a local paint shop?

There's auto body shops all over town, but I'm not sure about a store that sells supplies for automotive painting. Maybe NAPA?

They are among the high end stuff yes, it's supposedly hand made and all that.
I've used their bike sheen wax on my gs and that stuff is awesome, great beading and the smell is addictive too

                O'Reilly's sells matte clear.

I use Armor All wipes on my matte bikes. Protects the paint, doesn't alter the appearance and makes future cleaning easier.

This is how the Armor All looks on a matte bike, my old 05 Katana:
