Sissy Bar - Cross model fitment?

    Hello all,

So I need 2 find a sissy bar for my 1977 GS 750B. I am curious if there are any other models/years that would fit/bolt on to my bike or if the frame was used across for other models.

I come across a lot on eBay/etc, but nothing model/year specific.

My family appreciates any input. Thanks... ; )

Many of the KG chrome racks are super adjustable for length with sliding tubes and the rear uses some L or Z shaped brackets to mount the rear end to the turn signal bracket/frame area. Its always a risk.....but most can be made to work.

Rear brackets can be made by a handy bike owner.

Thanks, That is good to know about the KG.

      I fully expect to do some fitting/tweaking & bracket/bracing.

I was curious if the E, L or G models would fit, and what 750 frames were identical/what year did they change?

I don't have a sissy bar but do have a luggage rack for that bike if interested.

How do the frame widths of the various bikes compare at the shock studs? I'd think that would be the most limiting factor for compatibility.

GSX1000E, I may have to hit you up, I'm not really looking for a luggage rack at the moment. More concerned with keeping the lady & boy at ease, the GS750B seat is not exactly the best for co-riders. (too flat & slippery, no bolster) lol

I plan on taking some trips this summer, so the sissy bar would play double duty to strap my pack & bag on for a few summer events. ( a rack/sissy bar would be the best option.)

Griffyn, You pinpointed my exact question.

The distance from the top shock mount to the turn signal mounts as well as the rear frame width are all factors in what fits especially on the 750's.
Come to think of it, I might have the slide-in/adjustable backrest to go with one of the luggage racks. I would have to poke around and see tomorrow.

That slide-type backrest on a rack is what i had on my 550. I'd love to get another one for the 750, it was incredibly useful for overnight rides.
