    What year(s) were "skunk"?

    What years, exactly, were "Skunks"?

I'm pretty sure 1978, were there others?

What about size and styles? Was it only the 1000e?
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

I've been wondering about this "Skunk" too. What makes them a Skunk anyway?

This is sedelens 1978 GS1000E, the only year and model of the 'Skunk'

It only came in one color combo which was black with a white stripe, hence the nick name 'Skunk'

Thanks for the straight forward answer, Steel. (So little of that going on here these days!)

            On the contrary:

That last one might have been a European color. I think the American version was a darker blue (almost turquoise) with a navy blue stripe.

The one definitive feature that marks that model is not just the stripe, but the fact that there is an indent in the tank where the stripe runs.
The '78 1000E was the only one to have it.

I thought the 78 GS1000C came in two tone red and two tone blue with the indented tank, but the 78 GS1000E only came in black and white.
