    katana motor fasteners

I am restoring a 82 1K Kat motor, just want to double check before I drop off the fasteners to the plater.

The fasteners are a mix of chrome coated bolts and a clear zinc plated (not yellow zinc) correct?

the only yellow zinc on the bike is like carb screws and stuff right?

Yes, zinc with a few chrome bits like the head nuts. Zinc itself is a silver colored metal so not sure why the plater is referring to it as "clear". Maybe because a clear sealer is applied after the zinc? At any rate, you are on the right track.

Painting the cases first, then using bright and shinny hardware bits to screw everything together gives that OEM look. Not positive about the Katana engine per say, but most silver colored GS engines I've seen have an unpainted lower engine crankcase half. That's another of those fun little details you can hold in your head if you ever become a concourse restoration judge and come across a GS in the competition.

Have you already perused the close-ups of Joe's former Kat?

When you look at the full-size engine photos, it looks like the case cover bolts are "clear" or silver zinc, but several of the engine mount bolts, plugs, etc. are chromed.
