GS850 luggage rack?

I bought a luggage rack supposedly designed for the gs850 off of ebay and I tried to put it on today and this is what I got:







The only thing I can think of is that it was meant for an L

Anyone know more about this than me?

You are missing the U-shaped brackets that will reach to the mounting points under the seat.

Here is what I did....you can make up your own solution or mimick this:
Remove bolt above turn signal, put longer bolt on from backside and add a spacer, I used some 1" aluminum tubing/conduit I had.
Later I cut the excess bolt.

The mess above it is a backrest I added. , But yeah, a tubular spacer and a couple bolts and your rack will mount up.

I bought one for my sons 83' 850G and it was off an 81' 850L. Looks just like yours. It is going to take a little bit of thinking to make it work but it will work. I took off both of those side brackets and made extender brackets to reach back to the rear of the frame. I'll try and get pics of it tomorrow, turned out okay
