Moved the rear Turn lights!
Just one of them things i did not like about where they were located from the factory. So I moved them. They were a bit in the way of the bags as well. Did not have to buy anything to do this. Just re-ran the wires in the same location as the brake light wiring. There's plenty of wire. Drilled two holes in the brake light bracket and removed the old mounting brackets off the ends of the signals. Bolted right in the holes. I think it makes it look High and tight this way.

Now go get some cheapo trailer lights and swap the sockets. Run the running light side of the trailer lights to the tail light hot wire and youll have flashers / rear running lights as well.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I love the ingenuity of working with what you have on hand and doing what you gotta do. That said, that looks a bit too.... eh.... shall we say "Harley" for my tastes.

Technically, rear running lights have to be red -- you'd need to get red lenses for rear running lights to be legal. Red bulbs might work as long as they shine red through the amber lenses.
If you care about such things as legality, anyway.
At least in Indiana, the cops don't seem to care in the slightest -- you see all sorts of strange stuff, like green and purple tail lights, pink headlights, etc.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I agree it looks good and functions perfectly. To me personally it just has a Harley look. Something about the line the signals make with the tail light. Not knocking the mod at all.

Don't have a shot specifically of the tail light/turn signal area on my wife's bike, but I have a bracket there that came with one of our other bikes that bolts the turn signals to the license plate mount.
Same idea, different execution.
Also seen there is the row of red reflector tape, the red reflectos with LEDs and the Hyperlite brake lights.
That is only part of the light show that happens at the back of this bike.

As you mentioned, rear turn signals can be amber or red.
White lights at the rear can only be used for license plate illumination and for reverse lights, which can only be lit while in reverse gear.

Gun Nut. I didnt change the location of the ones on my old Shadow but I did the socket swap. My thought was the more light at the back especially at night the better. Any dual filament socket should work. Just get a scrap one first to see how it will fit into the body before spending the money on a trailer kit. I already did, but in a different manner, using some aluminum angle pieces my dad borrowed from work. Ill try to find a picture.
