    GS 1150ef stock colors.

    After I gather all of the fairing bits that I need, I'm looking to put my Canadian '85 1150ef back to stock colors. I certainly have a favorite and that would be the blue and white but, I'm still not certain of the available colors for this model in Canada. From what I've found in my searches, the blue and white were only really available in the GSX 1100efe for Europe and some for the U.S.? Painting it my preferred color is great for me but not sure how they'd like it for collector status here in BC. In any case. If ever I was to find out, it would be asking you guys. Many thanks.

    Hi Mark, Victoria eh??

    Here is the 84 1150 I owned briefly...my favorite colours...



    and as far as collector plates and original paint go..here is a 1988 gixer I owned briefly that I got collector plates for...you will notice it's not even close to any available original colour...I also did the decals myself..

      Thanks Trevor. I sold the old Ninja 750 and finally got the GS. Your GSX at least has a somewhat "stock" look. My 1150 is yellow with flames! The paint job is very good but it's still yellow with flames! I'm pretty sure ICBC will be able to figure out that it's not close to stock. I can't seem to download pics to show you but it is running now so I may put it on the road to shake it down a little better. It has a dynojet kit in it and I'm not convinced that it's been done well and has been sitting for a while so I have some work to do.

      Thankfully all the decals are still available but they seem to be color specific and none for the blue and white that I want. You did the decals yourself? Please fill me in on how you did that. This is going to take a while but its hard not obsessing over it. I've attached a stock pic of the colors that I really want. Mark.

        Sorry when i said i did the decals myself, what I meant to say was that I designed what I wanted then had these guys http://www.graphicfxsignworks.com/pr...cycles-helmets

        make and install them. It was under $300 . And they came with a ten year warranty.

          You are correct. Blue and white was never available in Canada. 84 Blue/Blue and Red/Black Everything after was Red/Black The American ES's were Blue/White. A good paint guy would have no problem matching the belly pin strips if you could source the GS1150ES Blue/White upper decal kit. I agree with Trevor though, The Blue/Blue '84 are the sharpest. Uh, but I am biased.

              Thanks Trevor. Like I said. The previous owner had a great painter do the work, (it looks better in person) but I can't help but obsess over the white and blue.

                Yeah, that's yellow! And with out the pan ES decals would be more appropriate - or correct?

                However, seeing as the application is free I would submit the photos to see how far they'll let it go.. Rob was impressed with Sandy's yellow plug wires(see the photos of the intense examination in the PNW 2012 ride photos) and I was shocked by Trevor's GSXR. It's not like you'll lose anything by trying while you figure out your sources.

                  With the brown in that paint job, I think the PO must have been trying to match something else in his life.

                  Here in Vancouver, I see almost every weekend a POS 750T, maybe L, with a matte black paint job, skull and crossbones decal, missing a handful of parts, and even IT has collector plates...can't hurt to submit the application.

                    Right you are Derrick..I'm amazed at what gets collector plates. No harm in trying that's for sure.

                      A couple of tips for submitting for collector status..

                      Take pics with no distractions in the back ground (another vehicle, ocean views, etc.)
                      I have alway taken my pics in front of my closed garage door (the pic of my gixxer here)

                      And don't email your pics (it allows them to enlarge them to see imperfections..not good) to them even thought that's an option. I went and got mine printed at wally mart then took them to my agent (Megson-Fitzpatrick) it's better to have them send them in imo.

                        I resemble that remark . Seems that historic plates are much easier to get in the US, at least in New Jersey anyway. Ive seen hordes of clapped out cars and trucks with them.....
                        My bike isnt a pile mind you, but far from perfect.....

                            I don't know what the beneifit in getting those plates in the US are but in BC the collector plate means a big deduction in insurance (my 1100 went from over $1000 to $240)...the only restriction here is that you can't ride the bike to and from work or school.

                              I agree with some of the stuff that has "collector" plates on it nowadays. I have had great luck with the last 3 getting collector so easily so I don't want to push it. I have a ways to go before I can trust it for daily driving anyway so I'll try and get everything together and reliable before insuring it.

                              I do have the belly pan but the PO had a slow speed lay down on the right side so I'm going to try and get new pieces in good shape and then find the right painter and the decals required to get it where I want. In the meantime, I can get it purring properly and reliably so it can all come together. I've been trolling this site for a while since Trevor mentioned it to me. I can't get over the wealth of information here. How lucky are we?
