Which is why any mod I plan on doing to anything I own (cars, guns, motorcycles, ect) can be undone with a basic set if hand tools. The only mods I'm looking at doing once my 650g is done is changing out the signal lights for something shorter length wise. I don't even care for the full café look. I just like the café style bars on my 650g

To answer your question Chris, any tank can be made to fit any bike, it's just a matter of how much work you're willing to put into it.

A Sportster tank might not be the easiest choice. Look on eBay for vintage plastic tanks / universal plastic tanks. Many of them will fit a variety of bikes (although the GS450 does have a fairly wide backbone to contend with.....).

If it can't be fixed with a hammer...you're not using a big enough hammer.
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

don't get me wrong, i'm no prude to modifying anything; hot rodding is in my blood. my real problem is the inability of some to understand the fundamental character of any machine before tearing into it to take everything about that character away from it. every machine has its strengths and weaknesses, both in the engineering sense and in the aesthetic sense, and a good builder's job is to identify and enhance those and make the machine more than the sum of its parts. it must have theme and harmony that bind together with the initial character.

L models however are free game...cut away!

Which is why I detest chrome, because it's easy to over do. And I also don't mind retro fitting when it benefits by being a better part, like the sh-775 r/r that I'm waiting on to put my gs650g back on the road. Everything I do, I try to do tastefully. Like my 1911.

More stopping power than triple-disc brakes! My favorite handgun.

it's one of 20 that changes carry duty with an m&p9c. all the stainless parts were hand fitted by me, and i can put the original parts back in with no fuss.
