Which black finish to paint the engine?

Really a simple question. I've never owned a 1983 black painted engine and was curious as to which black I should use. I'm looking at using the VHT engine paints. They have gloss(SP124), satin(SP139) and flat(SP130). I'm ruling out flat so it's between the gloss and the satin finish. Which do you folks think would look best? I'm leaning towards the gloss but have the satin on hand. Just worried that the satin will be too much of a b!t@h to keep clean.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

Satin. Flat is a bit harder to keep looking clean but I don't think satin is any harder to keep clean.

I'll have to try the satin - the high gloss isn't so easy to keep touched up.

            Thanks for the info.

Are you taking the whole engine out to paint? Been toying with the idea of painting my engine satin or gloss black.

The engine is a transplant 1983 GS1100G and is currently out of the frame so painting should be much easier. I have painted them in the frame but always the same color and cleaning them up is a real PITA.
