Forward Controls
I am not sure if this is the right spot but I figured it is an appearance thing. I am looking to see if anyone either knows where to get or has made a set of forward controls for a 1979 GS850G. I am turning my bike into a bobber style and want move the shifter and brake forward. I have already laid out my relocation for the foot pegs but don't want to weld on the brackets until I know where the controls may go (unless I have to build my own then it won't matter).
Thanks in advance.Tags: None

Umm Your on your own... Maybe someone will chime in but most of us keep our bikes in the standard ridding position. I will tell you what anyone who chops up a good running GS.... Good luck.
Why not return it to its formal glory? I think it would yield a better ride in the long run.Last edited by Jedz123; 02-02-2015, 02:58 PM.

Are you sure you want forward controls?
They might work "OK" on a narrow-engined bike (V-twin), but with a wide engine, your feet are going to be so far out to the side, you might not need a side stand when you park.
I have seen mention of a couple other 'newer' members asking about them in years past, but I think the only one that posted about any success had made his own.
Good luck.

I spent a lot of time looking for forward controls and couldn't come up with anything. I did find some floorboards, though. That did move the shifter and brake forward some. Probably not what you're looking for if you're going bobber style. I have pics if you're interested. I got lucky on ebay, but it took a while.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

Steve, I was probably one of the recent members asking cause i was gonna do forward controls on my kz, but when i came back from my training in VA and looked at my kz, i saw the engine is just too wide for my comfort to put forwards on. I'm just gonna make sarge purdy and sell him when i'm ready and get a cruiser to replace him

I am changing the look of the bike because I love the old girl but it's time for a change. I have had it since 1990 and I want something different. I have started a lay out for some. I am going to build them at work.
