Paint = fun

Well, painting can be frustrating too but this single stage black goes on so well it gives the eye a lot of pleasure, don't you think? (From my recent acquisition--dipped and o-ringed)

Wow. Ok, what's the name of this paint?
Carb looks awesome.
Personally I would have removed the moving and adjustable bits, then reassembled. Probably the tops and bowls separately too. But that was a nasty carb.
So what did ya use?

Here is the label with the paint codes. Took two pics to get it all in. It is Shopline brand. 4 parts paint, 1 part hardener, 2 parts reducer.


This is the third set I have done. I like all the parts blacked out. After dipping and replacing the o-rings (from Robert Barr) and re-assembly, I prime with self etching primer. No issues with adhesion on any parts so far. If you paint before assembling, you'll have to mask off all openings and it will be awkward IMO. I just mask off the air intake and exit and push a wad of paper towel into the fuel and vent holes.

I have seen some really nice carb work--nicely blasted bodies with painted tops and bowls or even polished parts. This is just my preference. The stock look is more satin I think but with the glossy finish they look really nice on the bikes.

Do you have a pic of the carb in the first pic after paint. It looks like two similar but different carbs in the two pics.

I think that is the correct one but it has to be one of these two because the other two look different on this (left) side. The original picture appears to have the open vent on the left like the finished one I showed in the first post. It would also be the one on the left in this pic. These are carbs number one and two.
