Whatcha doin' with the hard bags?
    1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser
    1983 GS 1100 G

2000 GSF 1200 Bandit (totaled in deer strike)
1986 Suzuki Cavalcade GV 1400 LX (SOLD)

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

Are they worth anything? I have a set of Vetter hard bags off an 850, the ones with the angled sides, up in the attic next to the stack of old fairings. I thought they were just junk I'm too lazy to toss.

The bags are Bates not vetter. I guess if you want them I'll sell but I was just going to hold on to them for a while and see if someone wanted them. I have the Vetter fairing on CL but the bags are probably going to move to the attic storage above the garage. You want them? Make me an offer.

If the paint on this GS wasn't so good I would have cut down the windshield on the fairing and painted the whole bike, bags and fairing flat or satin black. Kinda murder it out.

Right now, Vetters and hard bags are worth four-fifths of nothing, relatively speaking. You get the odd ebay dreamer who recalls what they sold for back in the day and thinks they're worth a lot. For the past couple of years there's been a glut of them appearing as owners die off, their bikes get sold off and new owners junk the plastic.
That suits me, 'cos I like a decent fairing and never liked the high prices Vetters sold for when new on this side of the pond. The high prices spawned a copyist trade, some of which were quite good, others of which were dreadful. Anyway, with the current over-supply of genuine articles going for peanuts, I'm happy enough to finally get a couple of the real McCoys and not pay through the nose for them.
Btw, I've never found the presence of a fairing slowed me down any; plus it protects my hearing, as I can't wear ear plugs.

John, is the Vetter mounting bracket up for sale too? I'd be interested in that...

I have the whole thing for sale. Mounting bracket and all hardware, umbilical cord in good condition and all lights work on the fairing. I have a guy supposed to be getting with me to pickup the fairing. If he doesn't need the mount and anything else, you can have it. I'll ping him and see if he is still interested in the fairing. He told me it was to replace a broken fairing he has on a GS850 so he may not need or want the mounting stuff.

The vintage rat bike guys love that stuff. All that stuff on GS's saves what matters underneath it.

Hey Bob.,.,. Too bad you don't live closer I'd just give you the whole thing fairing and all. I'm tired of tripping over it. But I'm keeping the bags.

When you mentioned you had an ad, I looked for it in St Louis CL but didn't see it...must've missed it or something.
Yeah, we're not that close...mapquest says 260 miles @ 4.5 hours......usps or ups would be easier for the bracket transfer if the other guy doesn't want/need it.

                            Ha, don't know how I missed it....was looking under St L, CL...but I guess I did.
My windstar was only $30, but shipping came in @ $48....still worth it since she had keys, a good shield and was cherry - with the exception of the custom pin stripping {which is being removed as we speak}oswego cruise 002.jpg

You might be "first served", but wouldn't you rather have something you could USE???

Before you get that bracket, read THIS.

The Quicksilver and the Windjammer do not use the same mounting bracket.
