Seat cover replacement with gel pad 1100e

I have a Pit Replicas cover for my '81 1100e, and a Gel Pad\memory foam insert from onlygel.com via Amazon(https://www.onlygel.com/collections/...nt=18770004163). I took the original cover off and found an 8" square foam insert cut out right about where I need more padding. Wondering if anyone has taken advantage of the already cut out space, or if the gel should go closer to the top. Any tips on getting the new cover even and tight? Glassbeading and painting the seat pan this week, probably going to give it a try next weekend....

Called a couple upholstery shops, no interest in using my materials. Hoping a novice can get fairly professional results...

There's a method to layering the padding. You want to go from firmest to softest. I diy'd the seat on my vulcan 900 with a gel slab with foam cast to the top and it made a difference, but i'm not 100% happy with the results. See if you can get some scraps of foam from the shops you talked to. In the meantime, have a read through this site. It's got loads of good info

The hotter the cover when you install it, the more malleable it is. Makes it easier to pull it tight and get it looking right.
