No matter how well-sealed leather will get wet and stay wet.
With the exception of trailer queens or bikes that got a slight splash only to be dried later in hot sunshine,
Waste money for a false value or button up the seat and spend momey on something that counts.
I would wager that there are at least 50 active posters (and probably a couple hundred registered users here) who have leather Corbin saddles on their bikes (Corbin still makes them for the '82-'83 GS1100E, the monoshock GPZ1100 and 750, the ZRX1100/1200, and the various generations of Bandits). We don't experience any of the issues you talk about, so we dismiss your comments.
I have decided to keep my CB900F long term, so it will get a new leather saddle this winter. The stock seat is ok, but numbs my butt after half an hour or so.
Current seat (aftermarket seat cover it had when I got it):

I need to get the seats of the 1150 recovered. I may consider leather. There is a saddle maker/customizer in north Phoenix who does a ton of Hardleys but also some sportbikes, standards and tourers. I had Corbin leather seats on my GPz and my VMax. They do breathe better and don't get as scaldingly hot in the sun. Leather may be a good thing to consider."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Yup, I need to get mine cleaned up a bit, upgrade suspension components, and re-saddle it.
If you notice, mine has the black CB1100F pipes on it. I have a set of really nice chrome CB900F pipes hanging on the wall. I may swap pipes out and sell the black ones.
Nice oem CB1100F pipes fetch pretty big $$$ on ebay or Honda Supersport forum.GS450E GS650E GS700ES GS1000E GS1000G GS1100G GS1100E

The pipes look great on yours. I've always liked the 900f. My brother had (still does, but it's rotting away in his backyard because his wife won't let him ride it) a silver/blue '82. It is one of the nicest sounding stock exhaust notes I have heard. I put quite a few miles on that bike and loved it (though its shifting seemed a bit notchy)."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

It's raining a little so I figured maybe good time get Photobucket, Guess what, I already had photobucket.
Guess what my 7 pics are of...(Soon to be pics of current project, etc.):
Can really see why it's called "Saddle" besides respect for PO. This is my old bike/seat/saddle I was referring to. I imagine a lot of aftermarket companies cater to HD crowd because more $$ to brains ratio than others but D%MN!!! I still get sick looking at this bike (I sold when had to)...miss the old Garage too! (cry emoticon?) I was sooo proud I owned payed cash when I was barely 30...I like my Suzuki better in many ways. It quit raining out...
