    GS1100E Signals

Has anyone a suggested liquid preservative that can be applied to the plastic housings to prevent cracking and chipping, after years of sun exposure ?

Don't know about any "liquid" preservative, but sun exposure can be minimized with liberal doses of 2x4s and plywood.

I haven't used any of this stuff.
3M make a kit for restoring car headlight lenses that have dulled from uv exposure. The finish was a uv resist wax.
There is also a thing called Jet Seal 109 that some around here swear by.
I'm sure there are plenty others.

I have successfully used just plain old Armourall (don't think I spelled that correctly) to restore faded turn signals and other black bits. Periodic reapplication keeps them looking pretty good.

              He's talking about the housings.

I have/had a cracked housing that I repaired with an epoxy made for plastic. It smells like the devil, but it's a solvent and eats its way into the plastic housing before it hardens. I was able to sand it nicely and could probably touch it up with a little chrome colored paint and have it look almost un-noticeable.

Never tried it on indicators, but I have tried using a heat gun on crazed, sun faded plastic fenders to bring them back to black and it worked pretty well.

Just have to make sure you don't over-cook them.....
