Really? My "story" is a fact. Installed correctly, the risers are a perfectly safe addition with proper maintenance. There is no need to act butt hurt because you were wrong know it alls. Further more, the pretentious attitudes and "you're an idiot" comments are not helpful whatsoever.

I was checking out a bicycle today for a birthday soon, and the clamp wasn't on the ridged part of bar,

Yep the bars were too loose/dangerous.
...Have to keep looking.
Bicycles don't weigh 500lb.s or go over 60+ MPH , in traffic...
The ridges on handlebars are just one flaw in that idiotic design.
