    Paint for 1982 GS1100EZ

I decided to post this because there was a question on the parts for sale section concerning the paint for a 1982 GS750EZ.
Rather than hijack the original posting, I felt it best to do it this way.
I originally posted a whole thing on this in 2010 but, that thread has been long lost to the sands of time.

    Here is my new thread:

According to what I have seen, the paint you are looking for is "Candy Fancy Maroon" color code 10S. http://www.oldjapanesebikes.com/Addi...ur%20Chart.pdf

That color is the same as the 1982 GS1100EZ. A few years ago, I did a posting of the paint which I really don't think is accessible anymore. The paint is the same as the 2010 Dodge Ram truck.
Here is a little more info for you:

This is what I started with:

I also needed new side covers because the tabs were broken (you can't tell in the picture but, they were broken) so, I bought some new ones but they only come in black. I looked everywhere for the paint but, the problem was that due to some of the pigments in the paint, the color was no longer available. People told me to take it down and have a paint shop color match the paint, that didn't work out very well. I was told to contact ColoRite, just so happens that I was in Palmdale California at the time so, I paid them a face to face visit and all that they would do is look at the paint then do their best to paint swatches and do a visual match. I figured why should I pay them to do it when I can do the same thing myself so, I decided to go to the largest car dealer in the area that offered multiple brands of vehicles and this is the results of that search.

    This is the end result:

If you look closely at the spacing between the S and the 1, that is the only way you can tell that the covers have been repainted. The spacing is about twice that of the original which you can see in the previous picture that shows the side cover being matched to the truck.

Chrysler Inferno Red is the color I used to paint the front fender on my 82' gs1100e... It is just about a perfect match and the only way to tell its slightly different would be to take the side panel off and set it next to the fender and even then you'd be hard pressed to see any difference.

I had an 82 GS1100E a few years ago and my memory tells me that the "red" was a little more on the burgundy side. Is my memory faulty? Also, I had a Corbin gunfighter and lady on the bike and loved it. Does Corbin still make seats for the GS family?

That bike looks to be awfully lean, by the blue on the pipes.

The previous owner didn't have it jetted properly, that has since been taken care of.
