My first 1150 had that paint scheme. Best and nicest darn bike I ever owned. Foolishly sold for the fairing bike. I couldn't keep both.Last edited by dorkburger; 02-10-2017, 10:36 PM.sigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

I always thought the bike would look nice with the 83 ES mid-panels grafted on and 80' bee stinger tail.
The mid-panels hide too much of the engine. Not a fan of the lowers either.
1150pilot, would like to see a picture of your bike, that you dare not take on the track.GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

Bike looks ready for the track! Worst "case" scenario would be scraping a stator cover. Not the end of the world.
Clearly, as you have stated, other bikes are better suited for the track, but who cares if fun is being had.
You've mentioned it's not gonna happen and that's fine and all good.
I've posted this photo before and the takeaway is he's having a blast on a bike not suited for the track.
