buffing between clear coats w/2k paint

I know 2k paint has a limited life after it's activated. I'd like to polish/buff between each of my 3 coats of clear. My question is how long do I have to wait after each clear coat is applied.

Buffing between coats is not recommended unless you are doing a two tone paint job or applying graphics or what have you between layers. You'd be better off to color sand with a gray scotchbrite or 600 grit paper and then shoot all the clear during one painting session (with the appropriate flash time between coats). Applying paint this way each successive layer melds together with the previous too which is the best process for lasting durability.

Not sure why you would buff between clearcoats. The next layer of clear will bond better to a wetsanded surface than a buffed surface.

Agreed. Sanding and buffing between coats is a waste of time and expensive materials. Apply 3-4 coats, let dry for at least 24 hrs. Sand and polish. Done.

Finding the right amount of time to wait depends on the product. If you do it too soon everything gums up. If you wait too long it is too hard. I think what you are trying to do is Flowcoating. Apply 3 coats of clear and colorsand as usual, don't polish. Apply another 1 or 2 coats of over-reduced clear to get a glass-like finish with little or no finish work needed.
