Steve, Do you think you could do a video of how you clean up the carb pieces?

Well, yeah, I could, but then you wouldn't need me to do it for you.

I'll see if I can get something basic, like I do for the cap or just the one face of the bowl.

How do you get the silver off of the swing arm, I've tried stripper and it did nothing.

I just use automotive wax. Chrome polish will work, too.

              thanks.

I love polished alu... learning as i go.
              Good info in this thread
It's a lot of work, especially sanding out dents/scratches.
Hope i get my alu parts as nice as you and Steve.
Incredible finish on that swingarm, Renobruce !
Is that going on the GS1000S ?

That arm went on my 78 Skunk, which I no longer have. The ex wife and Eric Bang stole it in the property settlement. the S has a powder coated 1100 swingarm.

You guys do nice polishing work on your bikes. I ride mine too much in crappy weather in the northeast to keep up with trying.

I polished up these for my 85 750EF..A few winters here by the ocean has left them not so nice. The plan is to finish the 82 GPz then take the GS apart and do a roiling exhibit for my little PC business.

Now do you need to clearcoat those newly polished parts? If not, how long will they stay shiney?
