    1983 Katana silver paint code.

Trying to help a fellow Katana owner over at KatRiders. He's rebuilding a very tired 1983 Katana 750 and is looking for the silver paint code. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi Suzuki_dog.
Best one I've seen is this pdf from a German site. Very complete. It is sorted several ways so it's a bit of a scroll to get where you are looking at 83 Katanas..Note that it also includes the paint for various parts..ie: where motor is painted and so on.
    the site is

    the actual pdf is

I'd copy/paste what looks relevant for you but it's not working so well for me
also, if you or someone else has the actual Suzuki shop manual, the paint code may be in it, but I'm fuzzy about that. I just seem to recall seeing it in mine

add..seems to be updated! has english translation now

If you look in the parts fishe under the "Fuel Tank" tab you will see the paint code suffix 87A attached to the fuel tank part number. This is the higher level color code.

Then look in the "Color Chart" tab. 87A translates into 13L (Bright Silver Metallic) and 16L (Excellent Blue).

Also look in the "Optional" tab, cans of paint are listed by color code as well.

Finding the color codes is one thing but that doesn't translate into a paint formula. That's created by the paint manufacturers. And each paint system is different. You have to contact the various paint suppliers to see if they have a formula for these colors. Color Rite may have something but I'm not sure.

It's 13L by Color Rite. Same color silver as the 82 model.
