    Fork cover emblem

    20170601_160554.jpg
While replacing the seals and springs I took the opportunity to get NOS headlight ears and the fork cover. The cover I bought is an '82 but I'm putting it on my '83.

I want to switch emblems so it will be correct and I'm wondering if I can just heat this with a heat gun to remove it to paint and replace on the new cover.

You might be able to heat it up, but you also stand a good chance of wrinkling it when you try to pry it up.

That is the fork cover I just bought NOS. But i would be interested in the side markers if they're in excellent shape.

I may be interested in that tach gear also, whats it off of?

I need a fork cover for my GS650E, let me see if they are the same part and we can discuss if it's for sale.

Edit, looks like the emblem is the same but the cover is different, I actually only need the emblem as mine is damaged and would look so much nicer if I could find a new or nice used one.

I just heated mine with a heat gun from the emblem side and found that its held on with some heavy double sided tape.
I'm going to remove the new one the same way and heat the new tape and stick the old emblem on after I paint it.
Like Steve says they will bend a little but they're about 1/8" thick brass and malleable enough to reshape and reuse.
I dont know the effect that the heat will have on the paint when I take the new one off but I'm sure its fixable.
I'll let you know how it turns out, and if good I'll send you the new one.
