How do I carefully remove the s/s trim piece for a repaint?
I just got this correct tail the other day for my '80 1000G since the PO installed a skunk tail there...nothing against the skunk tail, but she's not a skunk. My question is how do I remove this s/s trim piece for a repaint w/o damaging it? I'll reapply it using 3M double sided high adhesion tape.

Heat gun on low setting and slow careful prying!
Now, if I sell this maybe it can fund the new sidecar that I want......well, maybe, if you go by some attempts on ebay{lol}...

It snaps over tabs on the underside of the tail section..No heat gun required. Just use a thin bladed small flat tip screw driver and get between the trim and tail section once its off the bike. Slide it along and youll hit the spots..then just gently pry the trim off the tabs and its done.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
