    hi im trying to find a good way to clean the black paint off my 1980 gs 850 engine ,i dont want to take the
    engine out off the frame so any good ideas on how to get the black paint off ,it looks horrible as its flaking in place other places its not any help appreciated

    If you're not going to pull the engine, your only recourse may be to probably just sand, sand, and sand. Start with at least 180 grit and work your way to 400 before repainting it. If you're willing to be brave, you could strip off all the body work to protect it, use a couple of layers of aluminum foil to mask your frame because there's no tape involved in just scrunching it all around the frame, then spray aircraft stripper all over your engine and then scrape and power wash the black off. There will always be sanding involved, though.
