Help me buy a fork cover

My 1979 GS850 was purchased sans the chrome thingy covering the brake tee. Trying to find a new one, or at least one that will work. Most of what is on eBay looks like garbage. I just want one that looks decent enough, even if it's not the right one for the year/model. As a last resort, I would probably be okay throwing an L model cover on there, if it would fit.

Can anyone offer advice on what other GS or Suzuki bikes have the same fork diamater/spacing as the 1979 GS850G?

One looks pretty decent to me is the cover for a 1979 GS750. I'm pretty sure the fork diameter is the same (37mm) but I'm not sure whether the fork spacing would be. Especially since many of the 750 models had spoke wheels.

    Thoughts?

I have one... not perfect though. It would appear to be near perfect if you could find new orange reflectors to stick onto it as it's been modified where they would affix. Let me know if you want me to dig it out & take a photo...

Further investigation has revealed that the GS750 fork spacing is 10mm too narrow. Bummer. I really could have gone for a plastic jobbie that'll never rust and could be re-painted at will.

I found a decent one on ebay at an acceptable price without the emblem. But the whole rectangle where the emlem goes is kinda messed up. I'm considering whether I have the motivation to paint the inside rectangle black, whip up a tiny suzuki emblem in vinyl, and then clearcoat over it. If I'm honest, i don't believe I do.

Partsoutlaw has them OEM for $34, which I could _almost_ stomach except that I don't think it comes with the emblem attached since they list that as a separate part. (NLA, of course.) And I notice that the handlebar cover emblem is available too for $9. Drilly-drilly and Roberta's your auntie. It won't look factory but it'll look like it belongs there. Total cost is $48, kinda steep for a farkle.

Salty, what does yours look like and how much do you want for it? I think I can deal with the reflectors. I have good reflectors, I can always drill out what's there and use nuts behind or just epoxy the damn things on.

Could do with a clean... It used to be on my skunk. Nobody ever noticed the side bits... maybe one guy

Shows you a comparison of the two... should fit yours, the width & dia should be the same.

As to what it's worth... you tell me. I would hope to be able to get it in a flat rate padded envelope at about $8
