Carb colours.

My 1983 GSX1100ESD had black carbs.....well it did before it went into the ultrasonic cleaner and now its a shabby black and silver colours.

Does anyone know the paint code or a close match to the Suzuki original black of the day?

Was it matt or a gloss colour?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recall them being a satin black, but I have no idea about a Suzuki code. If I did, it wouldn't help much, as original Suzuki paint is no longer available.

I do remember that all their blacks were stated as being equivalent to Munsell N1, which is actually no help at all........

Back to your original question, I'd use my favourite satin black and call it good.

I have used VHT black epoxy paint on carbs. It's available in satin or gloss, less than $10 at your favorite auto parts store.

For an extra touch of very subtle "bling", I have also used black metallic paint on the carbs.
Very nicely set off with the polished caps and bowls.

Wilko BBQ paint is a pretty good match. The downside is you need to bake it on for petrol resistance and even then it's not 100% but does toughen up with age. It's also very slow drying at room temperature - about a day till you can handle sprayed parts.

Cheers HH. I've got a few weeks wait to sort the carbs out but I'm a lot closer than I was after yesterday. Only got to find a new pilot screw.........
