I know the engines are the same, so the engine mounting points are the same. The L frame shows some difference in the lower left (as you sit on the bike) area. But I'm about 98% sure if you find case guards for an '80E, they should fit on an '80L. Roger Burque73 had a pair I was going to buy but my T doesn't have the mounting holes on the frame downtube present on the E & L Models.

Oh, Pete,
I failed to notice that this was your first post on the forum. Let be the first to welcome you. So... Welcome to the Forum. If you're new to bikes, or just to GSes, you'll find some useful links in my signature.
BikeCliff's Website is full of manuals, wiring diagrams and many helpful DIY tutorials that deal with common GS, uh... features.
The TOP 10 Newbie Mistakes thread is a great first read and forever reference. Post some pictures (link for that too).
Go ahead and make a signature with your bike info in it (at least). Go to settings at the top right of any page. It helps people know what bike your talking about without you having to remember to type it out.
You could also go the GS Owners forum and create a new thread, tell us about yourself and your bike.Last edited by Rich82GS750TZ; 10-15-2021, 08:04 AM.Rich

I have a feeling that the bracket looking thing on the E model frame just under and behind that #3 bolt could be a mounting for the case guard and it's not on the L frame.Rich

'83 750E was a completely different engine and frame from the '80-'82 750E. So I would guess not.Rich

Had to look up Barto. No, that's a 2.5 hour drive for me. I do have a kid that goes to Kutztown U, though he is currently on a bit of a break (long story), so I do get out that way sometimes, not usually on the bike.Rich

Update... I found a set of case guards on Ebay. The seller was local so win-win . They came off of an '81 GS750L. They will work on an '80. Thanks to everyone for the help.
A little WD40, 000 steel wool and they'll clean up just fine I think.

Hey Pete, you probably already know, but Suzuki made a "T" model back in those days, I thought it seemed to be about half way between an "L" & an "E". It had less radical bars & seat than the "L". Don't know what "T" parts may fit the "L", but may be worth looking in to. Congrats, welcome, & Keep up the good work.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
