    Carburetor boots not aligning

I ordered some carb boots off of ebay (pretty much the same aftermarket ones I got before). However, I try to put the carburetor in them, and one of them doesn't quite line up. What's wrong?

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the supplier has sent the wrong ones. The offset isn't right, that's for sure.

      Not sure what bike, but most have 2 with "R" for cyl. 3 & 4 & 2 with "L" for cyl. 1 & 2. The "R" & "L" should be facing up.

It's a little hard to read them even zoomed in but check to see if what Rphillips mentions about the lettering isn't on the bottom of them as you have them mounted. If so, you have them backwards

I've found that it helps to put them on the cylinder and then put a straight edge across the open end of all 4 boots to ensure they are aligned straight??? Just my .02!

When I die, just cremate me and put me in my GS tank. That way I can go through these carbs, one more time!https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/core/images/smilies/cool.png

I've just spotted the bloody great globs of sealant hanging off the valve cover gasket.
You're not supposed to put it on with a shovel, a mere smear will do.
Imagine what happens to the inside globs - they get detached, go down the sump and clog up the oil intake strainer.

I bought some boots from fleabay last year that didn't fit at all. Made no diff which direction they were mounted. Upon closer inspection, the part number was molded into the part in mirrored image! chinese knock-offs. Never again. Complete waste of time. OEM don't come cheap, but the fit was flawless.
