    1979 GS850 -- carb rebuilding questions

    Hey guys,

I have a 1979 GS850 and want to rebuild the carbs. I understand the 1979 model has a different make of carburetors than the Mikuni CVs? The only PDF guides I can find on rebuilding cover the CV type, however.

Is there a guide for the 1979 carbs? And can anyone direct me to a resource where I can purchase a high-quality rebuild kit for the carbs on my bike?

Finally, I rebuilt the carburetors on my previous bike, a 1980 Honda CB900c. Full rebuild. Are these carbs kind of similar?

    Thanks for reading!

Current bike: 1979 Suzuki GS850, currently trying to get working

Look for the VM carb rebuild guide, and get some new float bowl gaskets. Don't waste money on "carb kits" unless the float needles are beyond service.

If the float needles are thrashed, these are a good value. Comes with float bowl gasket. Don't use the other parts unless necessary though...
