Removing stuck needle valve seat BS34 Carbs
Hi, I decided to try and replace the screens under the needle valve seats on my carbs, because I think they are boogered up and making my bike run worse. I got the first seat off fine, but the second one is stuck good. I soaked in PB Blaster for a couple of hours and hit it with the heat gun, but it is still stuck on. I rounded it off a little bit with my 10 mm socket (rookie mistake I know), does anyone else have any advice to how I should get it off? I ordered a nut extractor socket set which I hope will do the job, but I would appreciate any other ideas as well, thank you!Tags: None

The seat is fragile. If you pinch it very hard on the outside using pliers or the like the shell will deform and the needle will bind inside. My advise is to keep it up with the chemicals. Maybe some paint stripper will reach down to the O-ring and turn it to mush?Ed

On my carbs there is no O-ring under the seat, just a reddish gasket so I don't know if I can turn it to mush. I think I will just try soaking it with even more pb blaster and use more heat and try out these sockets, but thank you for the help as always! You do not have permission to view this gallery.

BS34 carbs have an O-ring on the seat. The red gasket thing is for VM carbs, and those seats unscrew using a 10mm socket.
Edit: just realized that you have a 400. Maybe those carbs are a combo of different parts? If there is a hex on the float seat, I'd try to use a socket.
