    problem carburators BS32SS

    Hello everyone I have a GS550 E from 1980,
He has been following you for a long time, but I can't find a solution to the problem I have with BS32SS carburetors in the forum.
I dismantled them completely, washed with thinner, cleaned all the jets.
I mounted them on the bike I pulled the air the bike started right away but turned off after a few seconds and never starts again. If I leave it off for a few hours, it starts immediately but has the same defect.
    What problem could it be?

    Welcome to the forum.

Are from Indian Orchard MA, PA, or some other location? Is there maybe a language barrier here? I only ask because some of your word choices seem strange to me. It’s not an issue. People here are patient and always willing to help. I don’t know how much I, personally, can help. But to help others diagnose your issue, I’ll ask you to provide more information.

Has this bike ever run properly since you’ve owned it?

Dismantling and cleaning the carbs is good. Did you replace all the orings?

Do you have the stock air box and filter installed, or are you running pods?

First thought, Possibly the dreaded "80" model pet cock.. I'd Try to be sure it's on "PRI" for first start up.., then if you get it going, put back to "on".

Maybe the vacuum line from carb to the fuel tap is not connected, or is leaking?

Is your fuel line connected between carbs 2/3. If not you are connected to a vent connection and will cause this problem.

The 550 doesn't use the "leverless 1980" petcock. It's got its own "unique" petcock, that works much better.

From memory the 1980 550 I refurbished had a petcock that was "on" or "reserve" with a screw that you needed a flat head screwdriver to turn next to the lever for Priming. Back it out half a turn or so, leave it a bit & tighten it back up....
