Would you run a dynojet kit with stock a stock bike?

    1980 GS850G, newely acquired.

Owner put pods on without re-jetting, different rebuild kit but left the all the original parts.

Everyone always talks about how these were jetted lean from the factory, and I'm not the biggest fan of pods anyways. May go to a 4-1 exhasust at some point.

So the question is, would you install a stage 3 dynojet now or just go back to stock?

Stock jetting with the airbox is guaranteed to work. You can open the pilot screws to 2.5 turns, and consider lifting the needle a smig if the bike is bogging in the midrange.

There is nothing inherently horrible about running pods, so long as the jetting is right, and you have quality pods (no generic Emgo cheapies.)

If you are keeping the pods, go with the Stage 3. If you will be sourcing a stock airbox, go with stock jetting, but turn the mixture screw out a bit, as Nessism suggests.

The worst part of running pods (after you get the jetting right) is the noise. Some like it, some don't.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

          .

Just going to a washable Uni Air Filter in the stock airbox made my intake sound noticeable. Nothing seriously loud but definitely noticeable.
