    1983 gs750es 4 into 1

I just repurchased this bike I sold over 15 years ago. The Yoshimura 4 into 1 that was on it back in the day was replaced with a factory stock exhaust. Are there any options out there for a 4 into 1 or is it pretty much scoring one on Ebay?

Hi, a few years ago I was looking to replace the rusty Vance and Hines system on my 1100e and was surprised by the options. It all depends on how much you want to pay. Barracuda out of Germany make nice systems but they are very pricy.

My stock exhaust had some rust holes on the bottom, which, to me, indicated that either I had some serious welding to do, or as luck would have it, I found a complete exhaust system, and I mean complete at Wisconsin Cycle Salvage for $200 bucks.

A vry close friend purchased his '83 GS750ES at the same time I purchased mine. He put a 4 in 1 exhaust on it. We went for a ride, and decided to switch bikes. After about 20 minutes, we stopped, and he said what I was thinking, "I lost some midrange power, it was really noticeable:" I asked him if he had done anything with the carbs, but according the to Yoshimura exhaust (I believe it was a Yoshimura) it didn't need any. The bike did not pop, revved quicker, but was now more "peaky".

A couple of weeks later he moved to Alaska, and is in the wilderness working for the Feds as a EPA cop. When I saw him again, he had such fantastic stories to tell, I forgot to ask him about his bike!

Delkevic may have taken care of that. They are so expensive, I would hope so.

Discussion rarely comes up, but 4 into 1's can be tuned. My V & H, back in the day came with 2, possibly 3, restrictors packaged in the box with the pipe, that would fit inside the collector. I installed pipe, jetted it properly and, like you, noticed a loss in mid range. Installing these restrictors brought back a noticeable amount of the mid range loss, smallest restrictor, most mid range. I also had a Yosh, at that time, I loved the look and sound of my Yosh. but Yosh. have huge collectors that do great for high end, but really lowered the mid range. I fabricated a restrictor for the Yosh. and got all he mid range back, though could tell I had lost a little at max. rpm.... mid range was more important for me so restrictor stayed in, still had that wonderful Yosh, look and sound. Wondering if anybody else remembers those V & H restrictors???
