New needle needed?
Hi everyone, today I started taking apart the bs30 carbs from a 1980 Gs250t. It was running very poorly. When I was taking the carbs out I noticed that the intake boots were very cracked out. I have found replacements. I then noticed that the jet needle was also wore. I've never seen anything like it. It is a 5CHT40 needle that I can't find anywhere. Is the needle still good to use? Thanks!1980 Gs250T- Passed from father to son, also my first build.Tags: None

Should I just hand polish the needle with some brasso? Also, one of the carbs is missing the metal ball that is by the diaphragm. How important is that? the other one is very slightly smaller than 1/8 of an inch. The ball is 3.16 mm and 1/ 8 inch is 3.175 mm. Would a new 1/8 inch ball work?1980 Gs250T- Passed from father to son, also my first build.

I've just found that Cruzin' Image makes a kit (I know using kits is less than ideal, but these are the only parts I can find that might work) for the the GSX250E. I would think that the needles would be the same. It is the same bike, just different styling and market.1980 Gs250T- Passed from father to son, also my first build.

I'd run it. Worst case, it will run a little rich. GS bikes are known for running lean, so who knows, it may run better.
